In 2010, BBC Radio 4 and the British Museum partnered to produce a 100-part series aired 5 times per week in 15-minute segments over 20 weeks, in which objects would be selected from the museum's collections to relate-to the extent possible-the history of human civilization spanning some 2 million years. A History of the World in 100 Objects, its companion book, has the same goal. Whatever it may lose in the translation to print-chiefly the narration-it gains through the addition of stunning, full-color images of the selected objects.
