Five regional planning agencies in the western part of the United States have formed the Western High Speed Rail Alliance, which will be dedicated to bringing cost-effective high-speed rail to that part of the country. The alliance envisions the eventual development of a corridor between Denver and Los Angeles with regional hubs in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Phoenix. Links to Reno, Nevada, and eventually to San Francisco also are anticipated.
