A program that uses idle computers to process data from gravitational waves in outer space has led to the discovery of a new pulsar in the Milky Way. Called Einstein@ Home, the program uses computer time donated by computer owners around the globe to search for gravitational waves from spinning neutron stars known as pulsars.
