Schduled To Open in May, a 2 7-story hotel in Chicago has had to overcome site impediments that included a narrow (68 by 140 ft [21 by 43 m]) plot, the adjacent elevated tracks of the city's mass transit railway and the tracks' foundation system, and an adjoining electric utility building whose foundations partially straddled the site's lot line. Located at the northeast corner of State and Lake streets, the Wit Hotel is a mixed-use project, combining a hotel with meeting rooms and space for other functions. It was designed for the developer, ECD Company, Inc., of Lincolnshire, Illinois, by the Chicago-based architecture firm Koo and Associates, Ltd., and the engineering firm Halvorson and Partners, also of Chicago.
