By late 2008, a select number of people in California should be driving a new, three-wheeled vehicle designed to be not only stylish and safe but also the most fuel efficient in the world. The cost of the vehicles will begin at $26,900 for all-electric models and will be slightly higher for those with hybrid gasoline and electric engines. An aluminum and steel passenger safety cell modeled on that of Formula 1 racing cars protects the vehicle cabin, while the outer shell is constructed of a carbon fiber composite. The vehicle has been designed to maximize its aerodynamics, a move that includes the replacement of side mirrors with a 180 degree rear-facing camera.
