These then are some of the paradigms that we need to live in a new world, in a new Africa and a new South Africa. In this new infant world I cannot imagine a better time to be alive, indeed a better place. I have three daughters in their twenties, and I think they are incredibly privileged to be living in South Africa in the year 2014. I can also think of no better profession to carry the burden of this new paradigm and this new era than that of engineers -engineers of the brand-new built environment, engineers that will create a good, cohesive, energetic, dynamic and diverse nation for the 58 million South Africans who expect to be living here in 2030.
