More than 11 million tourists stream through Miami every year, enjoying the city's sun-drenched beaches and cultural amenities. Many of these visitors begin and end their trip at Miami International Airport (mia), which serves more than 33 million passengers each year, and they often use public transportation during their stay. New projects currently under way aimed at making it easier for travelers to avail themselves of the city's many transportation options will benefit both tourists and the 2.1 million residents of the Miami metropolitan region.
