The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has proposed new permitting rules governing wetlands in an effort to revamp Nationwide Permit No. 26 (NWP 26), established by the Clean Water Act. The proposal includes six new "activity-specific" nationwide permits and modifications to six existing permits to protect wetlands threatened by development or other activities.
