Very few people would disagree with the statement that London is one of the greatest fashion capitals in the world. Look around at any part of this crowded city and it's easy to see that clothes matter to us, a lot. When it comes to fashion, London leads. However, in terms of sustainability, it's a different matter and our fondness for consuming new clothes has serious environmental costs. New research from TRAID has revealed that 23 percent of Londoner's wardrobes are unworn. That's 123m items of clothes stuck in our wardrobes which someone else could be using. This is unsustainable. That's why, on the third anniversary of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, TRAID launched the 23 percent campaign to put London's unworn clothes back into use.
