摘要

Since January, with the launch of the new resources and waste strategy and four big consultations (see article on page 26), our sector has had plenty, other than Brexit, to talk about. But with the spectre of a no-deal scenario still casting a shadow, there was good news on this front too when Defra secured agreement for too per cent of UK consents for notifiable waste shipments that go beyond 29 March 2019, with Spain being the final country to agree to 'rollover' consents in a no-deal scenario. That doesn't obviate a number of other risks related to waste exports - such as the potential for disruption at ports and consequent delays and extra costs for operators - but Defra's work to ensure clarity and continuity on notifications for waste exports has been widely welcomed.
