An inquest has found that the death of a reeycling worker as he tried to remove a blockage in waste-separation equipment was an accident, the BBC has reported. The incident took place at the John Wade recycling plant at Aycliffe Quarry, County Durham, in December 2015. Simon Hogg, aged 47, suffered multiple injuries after entering the trommel (a rotating drum) with colleague Ray Garrett, to remove a blockage of waste paper. The inquest was told that, although the men turned off the trommel before entering it, the unit was started up again by colleagues who were unaware their co-workers were inside.
