With less than 12 months to go before Expo 2020 Dubai - the international exhibition designed to showcase the achievements of the nation - preparations for the World Expo are ramping up. Hosted by Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the event's magnitude is unprecedented, with 25 million visits expected over the course of six months. Of the waste generated by such a large - and long - event, it is estimated that 48 per cent will be organic material, 39 per cent recyclables, and 13 per cent general waste. To meet the target rate of 85 per cent diversion of waste from landfill, innovative solutions are being drawn up. As Expo 2020 Dubai's official waste management partner, Dulsco will aim to help organisers deliver one of the most sustainable World Expos to date.
