摘要

Amid all the pre-election buzz, as an organisation with more than a passing interest, we were regularly asked what we wanted from the new government, and what should be in their respective manifestos to meet the demands of our sector? The answers included support for local government so they can achieve ambitious targets; a level playing field to stamp out waste crime and give the competent and honest operator a fair chance; and provide the circumstances for investment in a circular economy infrastructure, which will support demand for secondary materials reprocessed in the UK. However, top of the list for many, including me, was demonstrable government leadership in coordinated resource and waste policy, both delivered here and in negotiations with the EU. While honing these thoughts the latest Green Alliance report, UK resource governance for the 21st century, arrived and/put into words, better than 1 could find, much of what pundits like myself have been calling for.
