Make no mistake: Ellen MacArthur is a woman on a mission. It's impossible to imagine that someone so clearly as intelligent and driven would commit such energy to a cause they didn't believe could succeed. Yet in many respects the circular economy agenda that the Ellen MacArthur Foundation so visibly champions is at somewhat of a crossroads. Can it break through from being a movement whose impacts aren't very clear, to an economic force that genuinely challenges the hegemony of the linear economic model? The Foundation's mid-April conference at the University of Bradford certainly lacked no sense of optimism and energy, even if conceptual clarity remained elusive. The two-day event impressed with an inspiring set of speakers, who challenged the audience to engage and participate, and above all to think.
