Following pilot trial successes with two NHS hospitals, the RecoMed PVC take-back scheme is seeking more participants across the UK to grow its collection scheme for waste medical devices. Funded by VinylPlus, the voluntary sustainable development programme of the European PVC industry, RecoMed provides an alternative, sustainable disposal route for waste medical items made from high-quality medical grade PVC. Run by project partners Axion Consulting and the British Plastics Federation (BPF), the scheme supplies recycling containers, communication materials and collections to participating NHS and private hospitals.
