I am proud to say that Scotland is at the forefront of waste and resource management, but I would argue that the time is right for a more broadly considered legislative framework that supports the development of the circular economy. In recent times we have seen a number of new pieces of legislation introduced and the industry has responded, but has little time to reflect and influence the impact of these changes. We need to take time to consider how such legislation will be implemented and enforced and look deeper into its effects to identify any unintended negative consequences.
