Lack of information and poor communications have been identified as the main reasons for public confusion regarding plastic recycling, a recent survey has found. Understanding barriers to plastics recycling, a customer insight study for RECOUP with funding support from Defra and the Kent Resource Partnership, has found that if we are to change public behaviour and increase plastics recycling then we need to do more to educate the public. The survey showed that on a basic level the public require guidance on which plastic packaging can be recycled, as well as evidence of how their actions are having a positive impact.
