Newly compiled data has been published by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) that provides a breakdown of all waste generated and managed in Scotland during 2012. The data brings together information on the waste collected from all sources, such as commercial enterprises, the construction industry and households, including detailed information on the waste generated, recycled and disposed of to landfill. Publicly available on the SEPA's website, the data is presented for the first time through the new interactive Waste Discover Data tool. The tool also provides a trend for Scottish waste being sent to landfill sites, which since 2007, has observed a reduction of 39 percent to an all-time low.
