The Waste Fast 50 assesses waste services businesses which are registered in the UK as private, independent or unquoted entities, as well as private companies that are backed by private equity funders. To be considered for inclusion companies are required to achieve annual revenues of £5m or above in the first year of assessment. In addition, entrants are required to have filed three consecutive years of financial statements at Companies House, with the most recent statements dated no earlier than 1 January 2013. Filed accounts must also show two successive years of revenue growth and companies must operate in the waste and resources sector. The Fast 50 has run for several years as an article and piece of research in the CIWM Journal, but is added to the awards roster for the first time this year. The top 12 companies, judged by their two-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR), made the shortlist - with the highest two-year CAGR being declared the winner.
