The decision was made only weeks before the Bradford and Calderdale contract was due to be signed with Pennine Resource Recovery, which had expected to start construction of the plant within months. Plans for a £1.4bn waste recovery plant in North Yorkshire are now also in jeopardy after PFI credits, which were intended to pay for the Allerton Waste Recovery Park (pictured), were cut. North Yorkshire County Council said: "This announcement has come as a complete surprise to us."
