Once upon a time, the Tipcon event at Harrogate was a must on any professional transport manager's hit list of shows and conferences to attend, as there was always a good mix of both commercial and local authority kit on show. When that event morphed into the much larger CV Show at the NEC, something was lost - atmosphere. Which is why, after several fallow years, "Tip-ex" was created and those with an interest in tippers headed back to Harrogate. With the 2013 event "under new management" (Road Transport Media, the publishers of Commercial Motor magazine) great things were expected and - apart from some typically bracing weather - they pretty much came to pass.
