A waste management and skip company has been fined for ignoring safety warnings about a truck. Rubbish Express of south west London is reported to have failed to sufficiently ensure the safety of a JCB lift truck and to provide adequate training for its use. It was fined ￡5000 for both charges. A man has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for illegal operations that saw him store, treat and burn waste on two sites. Trading as Dunstable Skip Hire and Luton Skip Hire, Nicolas Fletcher pleaded guilty to three offences. Fletcher is a repeat offender, having previously had his waste carrier's licence revoked in 2011. The Environment Agency estimated Fletcher had saved ￡85000 by operating illegally.
