Waste oil is a resource which, although classified as a hazardous waste, should be re-used as a lubricant blend stock, wherever practical. This is one of the reasons why Northburn has invested in the vacuum distillation unit (VDU) - the first of its kind in Scotland - which has already begun to recover base lubricant to be placed back into the lube oil market, as well as being able to recover contaminated diesels and kerosene.
