It is safe to assume that you are perusing this article either in digital format on the CIWM archive or from a "good old-fashioned" piece of paper. The print vs digital media debate, therefore, seems as good a point as any to begin, but I would not blame you for thinking "OK, he is employed by the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) so how balanced an argument...?" With relatively few recently published studies comparing the environmental impact of printed and electronic media and with the near-indefinable pace of change quickly dating some of the existing research, the case is ongoing.
