According to the Royal College of Nursing, the NHS produces up to 250 000 tonnes of waste a year, costing in excess of £40m per annum to dispose of. A large part of that tonnage is made up of clinical waste. So, how do NHS trusts manage the segregation of clinical waste? And what happens to that clinical waste? Does it end up in landfill, incinerated or recycled? We believe that more than 50 percent of waste from the NHS could be recycled and we're presently nowhere near that soft of success rate.
