Sita UK is proposing a new multi-million pound resource recovery park near Peterhead, as part of its 15-year waste management contract with Aberdeenshire. The park will incorporate a mechanical biological treatment facility, in-vessel composting and a gasification plant, adjacent to an existing landfill site at Stoneyhill. The new resource recovery park will be in line with Scotland's Zero Waste policy, to minimise demand on primary resources and to maximise re-use, recycling and recovery and will lead to 200 construction jobs and 35 permanent operational jobs.
