The directors of British manufacturers are often criticised for not looking ahead, thus leavmg the door open to foreign competition. That's not true - many top directors of British-owned brands have been excellent at forward planning - if only in planning for their own retirement pension provision! Tragically, the decline in British-based manufacturing is still going on, and there seems little that our sovereign government (that's the bunch that you and I actually elect) can do about it - even if they wanted to.
