摘要

The drum reconditioning industry dates back to the days when coopers first repaired wooden barrels. In fact until 1986 pack2pack (formerly Blagden Packaging) still had a cooperage to support the whisky trade in Scotland. The steel oil drum came into common use around 1866 to support the fledgling oil industry, where the drum became standardised over the course of time. The coopers followed suit developing new processes of steel drum reconditioning, shaping the industry we have today. More recent developments in industrial packaging, such as plastic drums and intermediate bulk containers, have also provided opportunities for reconditioning, repair and re-manufacture in support of industry and the subsequent re-use of industrial packaging.
