The Government has announced that it is to scrap four of its business quangos -including the WEEE Advisory Body (WAB) - costing over f 8.6m per year to run.rnBusiness Secretary, Vince Cable, made the announcement, stating that the work of the Advisory Body would be taken on by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills when it closes next year. Cable said: "By bringing these functions back into Government, we make their activities more accountable and can reduce the considerable administrative costs that they place on the taxpayer."rnIn a letter to stakeholders, Mitchell Leimon, head of environmental and technical regulation, wrote: "Following the announcement I would like to reassure you of our commitment to continue engagement with the wide range of stakeholders who have an interest in the UK WEEE system.
