The possibility of landfill bans or restrictions on various waste streams or materials is even closer with the impending consultation on the subject sometime in early spring.rnIt is Government policy and strategy throughout the UK that landfill is the option of last resort for waste and while we may argue the relative position of other waste treatments and disposal in the waste hierarchy, I think everyone would agree that landfill is at the bottom. Despite the increase in waste prevention and recycling we continue to be over-reliant on landfill and bans or restrictions are seen as the next measure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from landfill and increase resource efficiency.
