The revised Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010 (EPR) came into force in April and are the result of the extensive Exemption Review and consultation undertaken by Defra, the Environment Agency (EA) and the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG). The changes have seen an overhaul of the exemption system first introduced by the Waste Management Regulations (1994).
