Plans to build a renewable energy plant that will provide heat and power to the Duchy of Cornwall's estate at Poundbury in Dorset have moved a step closer with help from SLR UK's planning team. The proposed anaerobic digester and combined heat and power plant, which would provide power for around 3000 local homes and businesses, has received support from Dorchester Town Council.rnJo Freyther, senior planner at SLR, said: "The government is working to encourage a greater uptake of AD by local authorities, business and the farming industry to help meet its Renewable Energy Strategy.rn"The majority of the feedstock for the anaerobic digester will be provided by local farmers and the heat and electricity produced would be used to fulfil the Duchy of Cornwall's requirements to produce renewable energy and comply with The Code for Sustainable Homes on its Poundbury development."
