ADVANTAGE WEST Midlands (AWM) is taking a proactive lead in diverting the region's waste from landfill and directly supporting growth among businesses that recycle or recover energy from resources. For example, through its partnership with the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), it has already provided a series of small scale grants totalling more than ￡1.5m. It is working with more than 40 different businesses to provide technical and strategic support and is allocating a series of larger grants focusing on the commercial food and plastic waste streams, providing up to 45 percent of a project's capital costs.
