Speaking at the recent Wales National Waste Management Conference, Wales Environment Minister, Jane Davidson, announced that £26m in new funding had been made available for new technology to turn waste into biogas.rnThe funding, supplied by the Strategic Capital Investment Fund, will go to local authorities across Wales to help in the development of anaerobic digestion (AD) plants, and subsequently the production of biogas.rnDavidson explained that if it could collect 600000 tonnes of food waste a year, using AD it could generate around one percent of the country's electricity needs.
