Longleat Safari Park attracts 750000 visitors a year, who leave behind about 500 tonnes of rubbish, which could be a major headache for the grounds staff. However, investment in machinery, constant staff training and an innovative recycling and collection system means that waste management is a priority and landfill a last resort. For the current year it has set itself a target of recycling 30 percent of waste from all sources.Well over 90 percent of visitors are responsible, environmentally conscious and a great help when it comes to disposing of their waste paper and packaging, but one of the specific problems is plastic.
