Jeff cooper, the outgoing president of CIWM, began the opening session of CIWM 2008 by thanking Torbay for the warm welcome and sunshine it had provided over the past 22 years before ending his presidential duties on a light-hearted note, quoting from The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by saying "farewell and thanks for all the fish". Succeeding Cooper is Hugh Hoather and, following his inauguration and having been presented with the presidential chain, he spoke of the new challenges facing the industry and the progress that still needs to be made. Speaking of the challenge of building a stronger infrastructure than ever before, he appeared excited and positive about taking on these challenges as an industry, working together, reiterating that we are all needed to help make "a world of difference".
