Members of any professional institution are obliged to undertake continuing professional development (CPD) in order to maintain their professionalism, and CIWM is no different. Full members are obliged to undertake 30 hours of CPD each year; how this is achieved depends on the individual's needs and resources. CPD in the waste industry has always been important with legislation, guidance and technologies constantly changing. Therefore, the principles of CPD are relevant to everyone regardless of grade of membership.
