I chaired the seminar held in London by Hyder and Denton Wilde Sapte (DWS) on 2010 - waste strategy delivery - a local authority checklist? that considered all aspects of delivering waste strategy at a local level. I have identified five strategy strands requiring parallel implementation action plans to focus delivery of a strategy over the short-term. The key question from the day was "are we prepared for this shift, step-change in practice?" The impact of change in waste prevention is likely to be longer-term, but waste prevention must be an integral part of what we do. But for recycling, recovery and reuse we need a step-change to meet targets.
