It was after reading articles on the emerging clean-coal industry - whereby coal is converted, by an industrial process, into two relatively clean gasses: hydrogen and carbon dioxide - that the germ of the idea was seeded. If it is possible for coal, then surely it could be possible for waste? Hydrogen is the fuel of the future. The carbon-based energy economy, which we all know is contributing to acid rain, climate change, oil wars and other global woes, is unsustainable. Hydrogen is a clean fuel. If you burn it to power vehicles or to produce electricity, the result is clean water: 2H_2 + O_2 = 2H_2O.
