If any process releases up to 20 times more energy than it absorbs in its generation it has to be taken seriously in this day and age when reducing or managing the burning of fossil fuels is at the top of most advanced country's energy agendas. So it should come as no surprise to learn that a new technology - jointly developed by global engineering consultants W S Atkins and UK process engineering company Purac -to enhance anaerobic digestion is being closely examined by companies around the world who are being targeted to contribute to the reduction in the use of fossil fuels. The technology in question is called Sonix.
