After a rather slow start to the year, the New Generation Group (NGG) covering Yorkshire and the Humber was involved in some very productive meetings over the summer. First off were presentations at Leeds University on the vital role that logistics modelling can play in locating waste management facilities to optimise operational environmental benefits. The first presentation was given by Dr. Geoffrey Sampson from Entec UK Ltd. Entec has developed a waste logistics modelling capability that can support operational, tactical and strategic decision-making. Through an exclusive partnership with Webaspx, a company providing supply chain management solutions to industry, Entec is able to build logistics models that address how best to collect, transfer and treat materials in any regional waste management system.
