The final stage of the scrutiny process of the draft Municipal Waste Strategy for London was completed when the Mayor and his advisers gave evidence to the Environmental Strategies Investigative Committee. The committee has held three sessions where expert witnesses gave evidence as part of the scrutiny process: one focused on the role and impact of incineration, another on the community recycling group's perspective of the strategy and finally a question and answer session with the Mayor and his team. This final session gave the greatest insight into how the waste strategy will be developed in coming months and how it will look when it is released for public consultation in spring 2002.
