As part of the changes we've been undergoing at CI WM, our aim is to instil a revived focus on the essence of our organisation - you, our members. As a membership body, it's our first and foremost priority to ensure that we're delivering exactly what you want from us - whether that's career development, knowledge and insight, or any other benefits that come with being a member of CIWM. Our vision is to be 'member first' in everything we do, focusing on empowering professionalism throughout our membership, as well as the resources and waste sector as a whole. With this vision in mind, we have a number of aims, one of which is to return to a financial surplus by 2020; another is to grow our membership back to 7,500. We currently have about 5,300 members, and enjoy an unusually high retention rate for a membership body. However, as well as making sure we're doing everything we can to meet your needs, we also need to reach those who are beginning their path in our growing sector, and those who may not be aware of all that we can do for them. Encouragingly, in 2018, our membership grew for the first time in 10 years and, so far in 2019, we have had 285 new members join us.
