Mattress-makers should be forced to recycle their own products and provide take-back services to ease cost pressures on councils, the Local Government Association (LGA) has said. In a new analysis, the LGA has found that, every year, five times as many mattresses are sold in the UK (7.26 million) as are recycled (1.36 million).
