The UK's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a consultation to seek views on European proposals to revise regulations on the use of biocides. It is hoped the process will influence the creation of new legislation that will replace the current Biocidal Products Directive (BPD) 98/8/EC.rnThe regulation will also result in the repeal of the Biocidal Products Regulations 2001 and the Biocidal Products Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001, which transpose the current BPD into UK law. The consultation closes on 5 October 2009 and the new regulation is scheduled to come into effect in 2013.
