In an article in the 1 May 2005 issue of the journal (FalagasnME, Kasiakou SK. Colistin: the revival of polymyxins for thenmanagement of multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacterial infections.nClin Infect Dis 2005; 40:1333–41), 2 errors appeared.nIn table 1, the synopsis for recommended iv dosage should readn“United States: 2.5–5 mg/kg of colistin base (75,000–150,000nIU/kg) per day divided into 2–4 equal doses (1 mg of colistinnbase equals 30,000 IU); United Kingdom: 4–6 mg/kg (50,000–n75,000 IU/kg) per day in 3 divided doses for adults and childrennwith body weights of u000260 kg, and 80–160 mg (1–2 million IU)nq8h for body weights of 160 kg” (not “United States: 2.5–5nmg/kg (31,250–62,500 IU/kg) per day divided into 2–4 equalndoses (1 mg of colistin base equals 12,500 IU); United Kingdomn4–6 mg/kg (50,000–75,000 IU/kg) per day in 3 dividedndoses for adults and children with body weights of u000260 kg,nand 80–160 mg (1–2 million IU) q8h for body weights of 160nkg”). In the first sentence of the first paragraph of the Dosagenand Route of Administration section, the text should read “Thendosage of intravenous colistin recommended by the manufacturersnin the United States is 2.5–5 mg/kg of colistin basen(75,000–150,000 IU/kg) per day divided into 2–4 equal dosesn(1 mg of colistin equals 30,000 IU)” (not “The dosage of intravenousncolistin recommended by the manufacturers in thenUnited States is 2.5–5 mg/kg (31,250–62,500 IU/kg) per day,ndivided into 2–4 equal doses (1 mg of colistin equals 12,500nIU)”). The authors regret these errors.
