摘要

It's February 12th, and the Valentine's Day-themed mer-chandise you ordered last July just arrived. A driver shows up at your door with a C.O.D. invoice and a trailer full of polyester stuffing when you only ordered a dozen bags for your 1,000-square-foot store. The albums you ordered for classes are very different than the ones just delivered to your store. Now what? Every retailer has a story to tell about "a good order gone wrong" and a lesson learned from it. To ensure that you are getting what you order—when you want it—vigilance is required from the time you fill out a purchase order, to the day you open the shipment, to the moment you review the invoice for payment. In the long run, setting up standard practices will reduce overcharges and lost sales from being out of stock.
