The fine art of cleaning, carding and spinning wool, cashmere, mohair and alpaca into yarn has jumped in popularity in recent years—a spin-off of knitting's rebounding popularity? Possibly. Much like the addictive nature of knitting (once it's in the blood, it practically disables people from doing anything else), spinning seems to be spreading like a full blown, yet hush-hush, epidemic. "I used to have trouble filling one spinning class," says Sue Petrovski from the Recycled Lamb in Lakewood, Colo. "Now we have three going."
