The Web is ubiquitous in modern life. People use the Web for academic, professional, social, entertainment, consumer, hobby, investment, and numerous other purposes. Reference librarians help patrons search the Web and collection management librarians incorporate Web resources into their strategies for meeting client information needs. Most educated individuals probably know the rudiments of conducting a Google search. The Extreme Searcher s Internet Handbook is intended for readers who wish to take their Web searching skills to a higher level. The book's stated objective is to serve as "a guide for researchers, writers, librarians, teachers, and others, covering what serious users need to know to take full advantage of Internet tools and resources" (page ⅹⅸ).
