Powerlooms, textile production centres and wholesale and retail textile shops closed down in Erode on August five protesting against insistence by Pollution Control Board for installing reverse osmosis plants in small bleaching factories and textile production centres.The protest was organized by the Erode Handloom Cloth Merchants Asso-ciation and All Textile Traders Association, informed Mr. Natarasa Mudaliar, President, Erode Handloom Textile Merchants Association and K S Thennarasu President of the Textile Printers Association.
